I am currently a 6th Grade Science Teacher at McAnally Intermediate School. I have developed and applied my teaching philosophy through a variety of experiences including co-leading PBL on Deck presentations, co-leading Growth Mindset presentations, participating in various professional development courses, working as a STEMscopes trainer and am currently becoming STEM certified. As a teacher and mentor, my main goal is to challenge and inspire my students. I would like my students to think about the world in totally new ways through a science perspective. While I want the students to comprehend and retain the Essential Knowledge Skills taught, I know that real world experience is where students make the connections. Understanding the critical thinking and problem-solving techniques applied within our labs, Problem Based Learning and Argument-Driven Inquiry is where students make the connections. I want to provide students with important skills in science, critical thinking and problem solving that will be essential for any career they choose to pursue.
